A few types of guitar
The guitar is the most popular and loved musical instrument, it is also being classified as string instrument. The can have any number of strings from 4 to 18 strings, but the most common number of string is 6. The sound can be expected in two ways, acoustically as well as electrical amplification. It can be played with the help of strings. It will produce sound when strings will be strummed or plucked with right hand. We will have to press against the fret with left hand and all this process combined will create sound. The typical guitar is being made with wood and strings of gut, nylon or steel. It is different from other chordophone because of its construction and tuning. The modern guitar which takes part in the development of 6 strings one were the vihuela, Renaissance guitar, gittern, and the four-course as well as the five-course baroque guitar.
There are three main kinds of modern acoustic one such as steel-string acoustic, the classical one with nylon-strings and last the archtop. The music gets played in this instrument by the amplification of the body of it with the vibration of the strings. The body acts as reverberating chamber for this instrument. The classical instrument gets played with solo finger-picking techniques. Electric one has an amplifier which can help to reshape the tone and manipulate it electrically. In first these have a hollow body which was replaced with solid one and was more preferable. This type is effecting very much to the music cultures.
Acoustic guitar itself is divided into many other types such as steel-string which are flat-topped, the arch-topped, twelve-string, and then there is classical and flamenco. These are unamplified designed instruments and can be played in different registers such as acoustic bass one have same tuning as electric bass one.
Classical guitars are also known as Spanish one. They typically use nylon strings to strung sound. It can be played in a sitting position with the fingers plucking the strings. It is being used to play classical music. Its wide neck allows musicians to play scales, arpeggios and many specific chords styles.
Renaissance and Baroque guitars are the old types of modern classical and flamenco instruments. They are smaller and more fragile in its design and construction. It creates less sound than new ones. N past they have only four to five chords and were working as rhythm instrument than a solo one. These both types Renaissance and Baroque can be differentiated easily because the renaissance is very plain one and the baroque is very elaborates one with inlays of wood or ivory all over the neck and body.
Flat-top and steel-string are similar to the classical one but they are in different sizes and have larger body then other type, with a narrow neck, and a powerful structural design.
Archtop guitars do not have flat tops; their backs actually get carved into a curve from a solid billet. We can say that it has a violin like body.
